                      Books for Africa

                      Books for africa

Books for Africa, Livingstone - the books are on their way!
How long does it take for a dream to become reality?

Two years in our case but it is well worth the wait!  Back in 2007 it was suggested that Livingstone would be a worthy town to receive a container of books through
Books for Africa. The seed was then sown and in October 2009, after much consultation with the local community we were in a position to promote the cause on the Book for Africa website.

There are a total of 22 local schools and libraries that will benefit from these books, ranging from Primary through to Post Secondary and covering many
topics including English, Maths, Science, Social Studies, Heath and Arts. Most of the schools and libraries already have shelving for these books but in some local rural school, we will provide shelves for the safe keeping of the books.  Also in the container will be ten computers donated by
African Impact, which will be housed in the computer room at the newly built Nakatindi Health and Education Centre. Nakatindi Health and Education Centre is a purpose built Centre that we have built for the local school and community.  The aim is for the Centre not only to provide additional classroom space, a computer centre, guidance/health office and a library but also the main hall will be rented out to provide Nakatindi with valuable revenue for the maintenance and operation of the school.

The total money donated and raised over the past two year is $18,000 which will pay for the shipping of 20,000 books, distribution, storage and safety of
                      the books.

Children who can’t be world travelers can still find the world in books so a huge THANK YOU to all our donors for making theirs and our dream come true.
                      .
